Kick Starter

If one could get paid for trolling the Internet I’d surely be one of the most successful humans on Earth! Yet today I found a site unlike any I’ve seen before. So much so that I felt the need to share it in any form that I have access to! The site is called Kick Starter and the premise is that anyone seeking funding for projects can create a page on their site and get donations yet keep 100% ownership of their idea. Kick Starter focuses on the fields of photography, music, art, design, food, publishing, and technology. The concept is developed around special offers and benefits depending on how much you pledge. So in the example of products, such as solar-powered blocks for charging iPods and customisable functions, or unique bicycle locks if you pledge enough you pre-order the product!

The other amazing thing about the site is that projects only get funded if they reach 100% of their goal. So if you pledge money to a concept but not enough money is raised for the project to become a reality, then you won’t get charged for your donations. So as a donator your money is never wasted, but what it also means is that for individuals seeking funding they can test out their idea before wasting their own money on it and only the best concepts get funded.

So if you have an art installation that needs funding, or a collective design brand with bigger plans, or a clever little product that needs a push in the right direction, then head over to Kick Starter
